Downgraded to Firefox 2.0

Well I gave Firefox 3.0 a good run but decided to stay with Firefox 2.o for now. Some of the reasons for this include:

  1. Stability FF3.0 is the first browser since Netscape Communicator to crash on my machine daily.
  2. Compatibility FF3.0 just doesn't log into GMail as easily or remember my password for as long. Inevitable a god number of add-in broke. GMail kept having AJAX issues which went away when I downgraded.
I still prefer FF over other browsers and will check on 3.0 from time to time but basically for my purposes I think 3.0 aint quite done yet.

You should check out the free support Mozilla offers at Support.Mozilla.com. Also, the gmail crashing is usually caused by the broken Skype extension, do you have Skype installed?

no i dont have skype or any skype add-in but the problem is more with my gmail notifier add-ins which seem to screw up the gmail log in on FF3 (they forget my username/password or something). Thats a minor hassle which i could live with but the crashing I've been getting on FF3 seems unrelated to the sites Ive been using (though they may be caused by the AJAX in them). I havent seen enough thats compelling in the new version to make it worth put ting up with the irritations. I guess if it didn't crash daily on my XP box I'd probably would have stayed with it. I'll keep checking on it from time to time.
